Institute of Powder Metallurgy

The institute has 25 teachers, including 10 professors, 9 associate professors and 6 lecturers. It consists of advanced powder metallurgy forming technology lab, reaction synthesis and nanomaterials lab, advanced composite materials lab, advanced energy materials lab and functional powder materials lab. In recent years, more than 60 National and provincial level projects and more than 50 horizontal projects of enterprises have been undertaken and completed by the institute, which has obtained 1 second prize for national scientific and technological progress, 2 first prize for technological invention at provincial and ministerial level, 6 second prize at provincial and ministerial level, 2 international academic awards. Besides, more than 60 patents for invention, nearly 500 papers published in domestic and foreign publications and 8 monographs and teaching materials published have been achieved.

The research institute, the key laboratory of advanced powder metallurgy materials and technology in Beijing and the supporting unit of the Engineering Research Center of Metal Electronic Information Materials of the Ministry of Education, mainly takes special powder, advanced powder metallurgy forming technology and powder metallurgy material as the research objects, through the fusion and integration of material, metallurgy, physics, chemistry, computer and electronic technology. It focuses on the basic and application research of 3D printing, powder (micro) injection molding, plasma spheroidizing, self-propagating high temperature synthesis, high speed pressing forming, infiltration and enhanced sintering, etc. Moreover, it has features and advantages in near-net shape forming technology and application, powder metallurgical titanium/aluminum/copper alloy, high-performance electronic packaging material and its sealing technology, ultrafine crystalline carbide, dispersion strengthened material, high-performance composite material, micro spherical powder and its application, synthesis of new energy materials, advanced powder metallurgical forming technology and materials industrialization, and so on.
