Department of Functional Materials

In the Department of Functional Materials, there are 12 faculties, including 1 expert of enjoying government subsidy in State Department, 2 candidates for the “New Century Outstanding Talent Support Program”, 5 professors, 4 associate professor and 3 assistant research fellows. The Department is comprised of Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Devices, Carbon-Based Materials and Functional Films Laboratory and Functional Magnetic and Environmental Materials Laboratory. In latest years, we have obtained 1 Second Rank of National Technological Innovation Award, 4 First Rank of provincial-level prizes, 8 Second Rank of provincial-level prizes. We have authorized over 100 invention patents, published over 400 peer-reviewed papers, and 4 books.

Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Devices focused on the studies of optical and electrical functional materials. They focused on the new type optoelectronic materials and devices, regarding solar cells, light emitting diodes, detectors and exploration of new materials design, preparation and high quality film.

Carbon-Based Materials and Functional Films Laboratory devoted to the studies of Diamond and Related Materials as well as corresponding Technologies, including the preparation and process of large-scale high-quality free-standing diamond film, heat management of high-power device, new functional film and preparation technology, surface modification of thin film, advanced electrochemical water treatment technology, frictional and wear properties of hard thin films (nitrides, carbides, oxides) and ultra-nanocrystalline diamond, surface plasma alloying and plasma diagnosis, etc.

Functional Magnetic and Environmental Materials Laboratory engages in the studies of functional materials and devices, materials recycling technologies. The key research fields including functional materials and devices, the disposal and high-value utilization of electronic waste, scrapped vehicles, nonferrous metals, steel, and metallurgical solid waste.
