Institutes and Laboratories

Institute of Advanced Materials and Processing

There are 8 teachers in this institute, including 3 professors, 3associate professors. In recent years, the institute has undertaken and completed more than 50 research projects including national key research and development program, the Major Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and corporate horizontal collaboration projects with companies.

The main research direction in this institute cover the research & development and engineering application in structural metals with particular emphasis on high-strength and high-conductivity copper alloys, special layered composite materials, high-performance special steels, advanced aluminum alloys, and superalloys. To explore the relationship between composition-processing-structure-property in materials and its integrated design method can develop compact-process, near-net-shape, high-efficiency, low-cost new technologies, new processes and key equipment for manufacturing. Meanwhile, another research direction is Material Genome Engineering, Including Integrated computational materials engineering, Materials information science, and Machine learning.

Research directions:

1. Scientific basis of metal-controlled solidification and formation

2. Basic theory of intelligent material manufacturing and processing

3. New principles and methods of materials genome engineering

4. Integrated computational materials engineering

5. Advanced materials fabrication technologies with compact process

6. High-efficiency manufacturing and processing technology of copper and aluminum composite materials

7. Development of high-performance copper and copper alloy materials and new processes

8. Casting and rolling process of high silicon electrical steel
