Professor Zhang Dawei was elected as the chairperson of the Asia-Pacific region of NACE International
On July 1st, 2020, Professor Zhang Dawei from the National Data Center for Materials Corrosion and Protection Science of the Institute of Advanced Materials and Technology, University of Science and Technology Beijing was elected as the chairperson of the Asia-Pacific region of NACE International. NACE International is founded in 1943, and is the largest corrosion organization worldwide.It currently has more than 37,000 individual and group members from 140 countries. NACE International promotes global academic and technical exchanges, professional training certification, industry technical standards and journal publications. It aims to protect lives, properties and environment of the whole society from corrosion damage. Asia-Pacific region of NACE Internationalis composed of 18 branches and 7 student branches from China, Australia, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Pakistan, Indonesia, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and other countries and regions.
Zhang Dawei , professor of University of Science and Technology Beijing, Director of the “One Belt One Road” Southeast Asia Material Corrosion and Protection Field Science Observation and Research Station of the Ministry of Education, Deputy Director of the Marine Fouling Protection Technical Committee of the Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection, concurrently serving as the Deputy Editor of Corrosion Science and npj Materials Degradation Journal of Metals (English Edition), Corrosion Engineering Science and Technology, etc. Prof. Zhang Dawei mainly engages in the research fields of intelligent surface protection technology, microbial corrosion, bid data evaluation and prediction of material environmental failure. Prof. Zhang Daweihas published more than 100 academic journalpapers such as in Nature, Corrosion Science, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Chemical Engineering Journal, etc. He has won the Beijing Science and Technology Rising Star, the first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education, and the first prize of Beijing Technology Invention Award.
